When I tied the knot
I never told my wife
that life was all roses
I said this
think of me
as the only red rose
nurse me
nourish me
as you wish
but remember
life is not a bed of roses
but do accept me
as an exception
with life's thorns
learn to live
and
so she did believe me
being nubile and young
today she asks
for the red rose in me
I say age catches your eyes
I am as red as I was then
but thorns now pierce thee
no surprise
bleed your eyes
as blindness over powers
you will then only realise
the red rose in me
when it dies
and
as in memory you may rise
do place me in the book of eternity
till the rose in me for ever survives
I shall never die
for I spoke the truth
you forgot all about my rosy truth
at times took thorns to poke at me
believe you me
a red rose I be still
for times immemorial Will.
in the book of eternity.......yes, you must be there. anjandev roy.
