Reflections Of A Departing Day

Rating: 5.0

As the sun sinks suddenly beneath the horizon,
It leaves behind its twilight glow, to show,
Path to the birds returning to their nests,
To the herds of cattle returning to their sheds,
To the burrowing animals searching their holes,
And to the day labourers returning home
In slow trudges, after a long, hard day's toil.

The twilight awakens the nocturnal birds
To take to their wings for a night's work;
The fireflies test their intermittent flashes,
The upside down hanging bats leave their boughs,
The owls waiting in the fringes with pensive faces
Perch on their niches to perform the nocturnal duty.
The onset of nightfall is heralded with these daily rituals.

While the cosmopolitan men do not care
To pause for a while and bid goodbye to the waning day,
Nature fails not, to pay homage to the setting sun.
The chirping birds sing the day's last chorus of hymn,
Before they go quiet in their nests and fall asleep,
Thanking God for the food they ate all day long,
From sources that were unknown to them in the morn.

The twilight evening is beautifully presented in mute shades when Nature with all creatures is getting ready for the impending night fall. The poetic observations of the nocturnal scene are so beautiful that the poem sets the mood of joy and tranquility in a casual observer. Lovely write with a lovely image.

Nature fails not, to pay homage to the setting sun. The chirping birds sing the day's last chorus of hymn, Before they go quiet in their nests and fall asleep, Thanking God for the food they ate all day long, Correct observation! While the whole of creation expresses gratitude to God in one way or the other, man alone is busy with his own preoccupations and never look up in thankfulness to the Great Provider and Creator!
