Reflections Of Afternoon Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Reflections Of Afternoon

Rating: 2.5

Sunlight shimmering and glimmering across the parking lot,
giving reflections of this new afternoon, leaves being
blown in a gentle breeze.

Sunlight shining upon their fragile beings, a totally vib-
rant and wonderful look at nature from a different perspec-
tive in this little poem on a peaceful, quiet afternoon
at the senior center.

I'm gad THE atmosphere of this senior center is so positive and life-AFFIRMING. Many can be dour and the people catatonic. I had a lively dinner with my uncle (89) and four other residents last night and the atmosphere was cheerful and convivial. But individually these five elderly people don't let their minds roam and soar. They don't avail themselves of the movement of language to compensate for the limitations of their bodies in space. They need more stimulation of the sort poetry gives.
