Another interruption in duty and chore;
A call to task behind the gray door.
With ' Y ' cut to make,
and samples to take;
Questions to expose - Avenues to explore.
Isolation of Ego, emotion to kill;
and icy detachment, stronger than Will;
Focused determination!
studied external examination...
Skin unmarred, odd warmth to feel;
contrasts the bite of cold stainless steel.
Sixteen years to find such beauty true,
fully half child, yet half woman too.
Though vessel unfilled, full is the need;
For custom and doctrine, by religion decreed -
before set of sun, by end of this day...
To surrender such fairness to earthen decay.
But why this torment, this angst, this awe?
And why in the ringing silence does a tear form to fall?
The answer forms fallow, so deep from within...
'My promise is lost, all innocence - all sin,
Loosed with last breath; Loosed to the wind.'
I cracked. I crumbled. I wept in helpless desperation!
Gloves snapped off at the thought of such desecration!
Rules melted and merged meaningless, sparing violation.
and the only 'Y' to be known was an unanswered invocation.
I have no to words to express how this poem moved me... in sad regret to praise a poem so well written the only word i have excellent
A poem of immeasurable sadness which reveals the noble character of the poet who penned it. Excellent work. Ten seems inadequate here. Warmest regards, Sandra
such horrowing pain in said same words eyes wittness the end bact to birth with such grace in tears you still so do shed in heavy demand of the work Eloquence to Eleagant no vessels that so held the fragile gift your eye saw well... Take care
The introductory stanzas set the scene very effectively, facilitating the contrast from the 'norm' that's to come. A memorably sorrowful depiction of the psychological demands of a harrowing responsibility, and a very human response. Again, the language choice, and form are top quality. Superb and very moving poem.
Walt this is quite a powerful and sad piece of work...I can feel the pain of the poet and I can tell obviously there are those times where one can not remain distant in this type of work... The wrods you chose for this imagery and emotion filled piece are just what was needed to get your point across! Wow...it is too bad one must experieince such frustration and deep sadness in order to do justice to the topic at hand... Really excellent work and as I type this I say thanx to God for you...for giving you the gift to be able to do this job for I know I could not.... Thank you Walt for sharing...10/10. Take care of U =Shelley=

A most different piece. Another glimpse in putting the pieces of the puzzle together. The 'Y' as the question...CSI will never be the same. Great poem as an introduction to your work on poemhunter! xxElysabeth
