Have you ever looked at the reflection
Of a beautiful lotus growing in a pond
You will see the trees...n the sky
But try finding its own reflection in the water
You probably can't
In a mood for introspection
Always in contemplation
I find myself looking at my past
I think of what I had, what I lost
The differences being vast
The past is not going to change
With any length of retrospection
My present is fleeting...
Why this self-absorption
The past is gone
The future may never come
Beauty is here n now
It's only in the present
Even the lotus flower starts its life
Surrounded by murky & rough conditions
But once it has emerged from its past
It represents an awakening & enlightenment
Some more reflections
Lead me to this conclusion
My thoughts needed some steering
They needed a new direction
In the final analysis
It was my old habit
That needed a correction.
one of the best poems where Sumali encourages people to come out of their past and present upheavels in life and enjoy the present, A lovely poem which can be read again and again in times of loneliness.
