Regal
The German 'Riegel'
is a door bolt
and a bar of chocolate and soap.
Rigel is a star;
from Arabic for 'foot'.
German 'Schloss'
is a castle and a lock.
Our planes and stairs
both have landings.
Whatever the language,
words occasion jokes
and misunderstandings.
A bird and a low score
is an eagle.
We'd be witty if we said
'highnessful',
the translation of the German
for 'regal'.
