...And the night's gone so damn wrong
That the policeman's so strong
I touched my God's solemn ground
Was put six feet underground

2) cont'd: Both were arrested. Kerouac managed to get out on bail posted by a girlfriend whom he married out of convenience. A very short marriage!
It was definitely a remorseful night for Kerouac who had tried to help one of his best friends cover up a murder!
