Should've reached out
Just a tad more
Now you're gone forevermore
I'm gonna leaven the score

This hits home, I think for everyone, we all have things to say to someone that we should, but for whatever reason we don't. Until it too late. Great observation Richard.l!

Kevin, although this poem was meant for the Kerouac Series, I did have some of my friends in mine. Thanks so much for your insights!

Very touching and punchy short lines. It depicts the jagged feeling of missing a chance. The closure line presents a twist that provokes the mind of a reader. Great poetic expressions imparting life's lesson.

Rose Marie, your commentary is very insightful. The punchy short lines are meant as metaphorical punches to his daughter Jan and the great opportunity that he missed out as being a father to her. The closing line is meant as closure for both of them.
