Resolve Poem by Uriah Hamilton

Resolve

Rating: 5.0

There have been too many days
of sunless meanderings and vague nonoccurrence.

I turn down empty alleys and anonymous street corners
too suspicious of my fellow travelers.

Decades go by like fashion trends and I have to wonder
if I have annihilated something important within.

I don't want my highest ideas and kindest affections
to dissolve into dream or fade away like autumn leaves.

I've been fragile for too long, watching myself begin to break,
but I resolve to have adamantine resistance to paralyzing negativity.
