Responding To The Light Poem by Glen Kappy

Responding To The Light

"God's law… is woven
into the very fabric of creation."
—Romans 2: 14, The Message

A tree
responding to the light
will live its cycles.
Is this what it means
to understand? obey?

Expressed very well, Glen. Trees and flowers aren't the only ones to lean toward the sun, to gain serenity and health from sunlight. We are created to live in harmony with other life forms, not to be ripping them out of the circle of life.

I love the concept of Divine law woven into the fabric of creation. As if impossible to separate the two. As if existence of one is impossible without the other. Finely apprehended truth, Glen.

Thanks for your reading and comment, Neal. For me this idea is one with understanding that, who loves us all, has been communicating/is communicating with us all regardless of our religious or other affiliations. All of us are peering into makeshift mirrors, yes? , when it comes to seeing the infinite things of. -Glen

Instinctively obedient? I wish we were. We have the potential... This is an interesting (if liberal) version of Romans 2: 14 For when people of the nations, who do not have law, do by nature the things of the law, these people, although not having law, are a law to themselves.

hey, laurie! knew it was your comment before i saw your name. liberal? hmmm... but what went through me is the understanding of God's law as being intrinsic to nature, not something foreign and also my wondering about how God sees us as we struggle and guess our ways towards pleasing him. hoping you're well in all ways, laurie! -glen
