Revenge In The Doll House Poem by Raj Dronamraju

Revenge In The Doll House

You look good tonight
And this is usually enough to dismiss the critics and the skeptics
Who refuse to budge from the snapshot image they have in their heads
You in front of a cardboard oven, you pushing a tiny pink pram

That's a beautiful revenge
Taking place outside the range of cameras
Busting loose from the mannequin spotlight
And the prying eyes of the folks who don't know the full story

That is beautiful with context
Without context, it seems vindictive
And destined to produce unforeseen consequences
That will hurt us and other people we have never met

Those who haven't been born yet
Won't thank your memory nor curse your memory
Those who live in a doll's house might find inspiration in your life
Not only to escape from there but to go after those who put them there to begin with

You will likely find it's a brief stroll from the doll house to the fun house
A glance at a distorted image shows what the urge for revenge has done
That's a monster in the dark scaring two necking teenagers
They bear surprise witness to the extreme contortion of your painted on features
