Robot Hands Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Robot Hands

Baby you remind me of my hands
Warm & carefree,
Not the cleanest but clean.
I lost them in a deal.
A familiar feeling gone in exchange
For pride.
Losing something real
For false validation.
I should have left things alone.
Eventually you would have seen,
Just maybe, you would have seen.
Sleepless nights with someone else's
Hands.
Useless playthings that have a mind
Of their own,
No matter which way I sleep,
Everything feels cold
On the other hand I am still losing sleep.
Everything I wanted still in someone
Else's hands.
No matter how much I adorn you
It doesn't feel right.
Baby you remind me of my hands
Until I get them back nothing feels real.
Although you didn't see me then,
I'll do anything to go back.
I know the cost of losing you is high.
I just want something real
I promise I'll do better,
No more dancing on a string.
Mephistopheles you're hands are
Too stiff
