Rose Petals upon Her Pillow

By Uriah Lee Hamilton

Let's become young again,
My lovely summer friend,
Let's dance upon the beach
Smiling at seagulls and seashells
And laugh like children easily amused
And always happy.

Later in the night,
Let's walk through a college town
Dressing down but cool and chic
Like Japanese designers.

A streetlight waltz
Holding hands,
Starlight swaying
In your eyes like ballerinas,
One day you will understand
The immensity of this romantic love.

Until you live to share your heart
With rose petals upon her pillow
And dreaming of an inseparable eternity,
Then you haven't made that special connection
Where two souls become one…

But I know no matter the distance between our footsteps,
Whether an embrace or continent apart, we remain together.
