Rotten To The Core Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Rotten To The Core

There is so much more,
Besides this one apple.
That has been permitted to rotten.
To the core.
And it depended upon the appearance of it.
That has taken many to decide,
Delaying their decision.
If this one impressive looking apple,
Rumored to threaten....
And destroy the entire orchard.
Is worthy to be removed.
Or should it be left to stay as is.

"This is madness!
Insanity at its best."

Of course it is.
And yet...
Its presence is not unlike the rest.
Giving image and being impressive.
Leaving it problematic,
To address its removal.
Without this decision,
Being unanimously approved.

"I bet if the orchard,
Appeared more diversed.
There would be no debating to question,
The deliciousness of the apples.
Although,
All it would take...
Is one to be declared rotten.
Without proof or evidence of it.
Done to quickly pick to rid.
Humiliated publicly.
And banished from everyone's sight forever! "

I am talking specifically about apples.
What do you imply?

"The specificness of some apples.
That are identified quickly to dismiss.
Whether they have been discovered,
To be rotten or not.
And regardless of the pointless allegations made."

Hmmm.
I'm sure I am talking about apples.
However...
Is there something else you detect,
That can be just as rotten to the core?

"Well...
That depends on the orchard.
And where that orchard is located."
