San Francisco Poem by David Lumpkin

San Francisco

My heart was left, or so they say,
In San Francisco by the Bay.
On hills beyond, in valleys low,
Inside its gates, my heart's aglow.

I love the city by the bay.
I go there and I want to stay.
Homes of old and people quaint
Delightfully without restraint.

Streets go up, and down they plunge
A lot of beauty, a little grunge.
All in all, I have to say
I love this city by the Bay.

From high on hill I hear her cry
Come to me now, go not awry.
I want to run, this I must say,
To this dear place beside the Bay.
