Savannah Poem by Bernard Snyder

Savannah

It's hard to believe what is happening right before my very eyes,
this place I consider home has become notorious for senseless killings and drive-bys,
asI try to grasp the reasoning for this sudden outrage in my own people,
I realize holding all-night vigils in the community always bring us closer, but the core of the problem is much deeper. So I thought I might convey a message that would ease the tension on both sides,
but no one cares to hear about love any more than they care about the innocent people that have lost lives.

This aggression I think is the outcome of latent frustrations that many people carry from their day to day life. Besides, the world tend to weigh most problems with a commercial angle, which in a way is greed. Take gun control. Take sail of arms to rogue countries. Self interest weighs above everything.
