Sea Trade Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Sea Trade

Sea trade

Many Gujarati businessmen made trips
To keep
Trade and culture flourishing
And bringing together

Many families settled there
Mixed with local people without fear
Many got married with local women
African countries got business boom even

When India as whole was suffering in trade
The Gujarat was flourishing and offering aid
Many countries had sea link
With ongoing business and trade adding golden ink

The Gujarati traders were known for their skill
They not only brought prosperity and still
But not interfered with local administration
On the contrary developed marital relation

Even today Kenya has large Indian population
The bitterness caused by some of the dictators worsened the situation
Yet the link has remained intact
The foresightedness and vision has ruled scene in fact

Yes, they were (are) very resourceful. I remember them from Tanzania. Thanks for giving us some history.
