Searching For Geezer Poem by Cowboy Ron Williams

Searching For Geezer

Rating: 5.0

I never had no schooling, but
I know to use the tools.
My ma taught all of us to read;
she didn't raise no fools.

The dictionary's always been
a handy thing for me.
To find what something means is just
as easy as could be.

I looked up "geezer" yesterday,
a word I'd heard somewhere,
and when I found the proper page,
my picture was right there!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
That's not really me in the picture. I just found that photo on the Internet.
And of course I didn't really find my picture in the dictionary. It's just a joke.

My family claims you have to know how to spell the word to be able to look it up in the dictionary to see how it is spelled. So I am a very popular person in our house, I can spell like you wouldn't believe! ! ! Geezer, are you? I know that isn't a picture of you- -you wear a cowboy hat,

Very funny, Ron, and what a classic picture you found. A ten from me and to my favorites list.
