Second By Second Poem by Paula Glynn

Second By Second

Rating: 5.0

Second by second, minute by minute,
Hour by hour, day by day,
Week by week and month by month,
All add up to years passing by,
As Mother Earth spins in orbit,
Taking her human race on a journey,
Through the stars, that beckon adventurous hearts,
To explore and discover the mysteries of the universe,
For the universe is a vast place, filled with planets,
Galaxies and moons, and the moon is a sacred symbol,
Of hope, travel and dreams of the night,
Where people look to the stars and wonder:
What is out there, as the distant stars twinkle,
For those stars and millions of years old,
As astronomers figure out what has gone before,
For the human race wasn't always here,
And to see the evolution here on earth is fascinating,
And the history of the stars can explain that, too,
For mankind has looked to the night sky,
For thousands of years,
And all that time just carries on, just carries day into night,
And the moon stands her corner, looking over earth,
To make sure she makes her journey safely,
And her people into the new day,
For the night is over now, but second by second,
Hour by hour, the universe will reveals its dark depths,
And show what the day has concealed.
