Secret Admiration - Poem by Tay Winston

I've read pages of various lives,
Heard the voice of gestures;
Traced meaning behind many words
To light a smile on faces.

I've sought to grasp her story line
Strained to hear her song.
Map the labyrinth of her heart
To know its landmark places.

But alas- with my arts applied,
I've come not one smile closer;
The story, song and scenery;
- a mirage of admirations.
