Segovia - Simply Superb! Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

Simplicity, charm and charisma
Segovia has it all!
Suave, impeccable, gracious
the cathedral of Segovia beholds!
Such marvels, such attractions
the little city of Segovia enthralls!

The magnificence of the Roman Aqueduct
so inexpressible by words
until your own eyes go there and sees;
it's marvelousness can never be explained
as gigantic it is in appearance
and installed by stones so huge
atop one another with such intricacy
that was this the work men could do
in those ages when no cranes existed
to lift such boulders so high up as the hill.

Walking by the Jewish Quarter
driving thro those curvy roads
so many beautiful houses and roses
I did see with awe and perplexity,
yet every street so filled with intricate houses
that your own heart will feel a redemption
and your own fascination will roll into a dream.

Was this a fairyland of the kings
or was this an anthology of virtual art?
only a heart so filled with appreciation
shall feel the joy I feel
as my own optimism felt so enhanced
and a thousand words in one photograph
could reveal what I saw and felt.

So decorative and sincere
was the Alcazar Castle
where someday I hope to sleep
and dream a plentiful
and perhaps feel like a Cinderella
asleep in the Royal chamber
of one of the palace towers
await to be kissed by
a handsome prince all over again.

And as I watched the Cathedral,
the Alcazar, the Roman Aqueduct
my eyes until sunset gazed
all that Segovia could exhibit
and with a mind full of memories
I moved away to carry home
the pride I felt when I saw Segovia
and the simplicity it weaves around it.
