Self And Identity Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Self And Identity

It is never too late,
For one to discover self and identity.

However,
I do not believe they should expect,
Fanfare.
Especially from those,
Who have chosen this route to take...
Most of their lives without fearing to be themselves.

And many of them without the benefit of respect given,
From those still in masquerade.
And seeking approval...
For the worn out sterotypical images,
They find easy to address and adorn.
No matter how outdated the disgracing beratements.
