Self Definition Poem by Uriah Hamilton

Self Definition

Rating: 4.0

Starlight descends
on once romantic streets
littered with college bookstores
and coffee shops.

Our love should have been
more legendary
than the poetry
of ancient Chinese dynasties.

My only desire
was to be by your side
through midnight tears
and long drives
deep into a rural countryside.

This has been the failure
that defines the man
and darkens the soul,
I always thought I'd know you.
