Selfish Nature Poem by Dorsey Baker

Selfish Nature

When he talks to the people
he says that he wants to move
way out in the wood
far away from the city
and live the life of a hermit
but showing all the symptoms
of loneliness
crying out for attention
crying out for help
crying out for love
symptoms that tells the world
a different story
than the one he tells
afraid of being by himself
his tears don't show
and his pain
it hides
trying to fool the world
but he just cannot
fool himself!
held hostage by a deep rooted
fear of loneliness
because every creature that lives
has some selfishness
in its nature!
