Senses Trade Places Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Senses Trade Places

Contorted thoughts so absurd;
the strangest I have ever heard...
What if your senses traded places
A strange look would appear on faces

What if you tasted with your ears
and if your mouth watered with tears
Food would silently seep into your brain
The taste of grief would have a sad refrain

Your nose would inhale and see the blue sky
Smell could be detected by a blink of an eye
You could breathe in softly and secretly observe...
The fragrance of a rose soothes the optic nerve

A strange arrangement with a ridiculous scheme
As lunch digests it vanishes like a dream
Vision senses odors, but not the hidden ones
Careful, you may lose your sight if your nose runs
