Sequence Comparison Between Species Poem by Ted Sheridan

Sequence Comparison Between Species

Rating: 5.0

There is this too; the unctuous manner
in which they sliver back into their liar’s lair.
Twisting their caudal evil beneath
their cold and scaled underbellies
and then like a lowly coward; flash
their forked tongues and slander
from the dark empty space between the fangs.
Their aggressive heads and temper
always poised ready to parry or attack
their demoralized or innocent victims.
Secure in the fact that there is no antidote
for their vicious bite and nothing short
of a very cagey mongoose can defeat them…

Go, Mongeese (?) . Get them cobras, eatem right up! Well penned, Ted, bringing a shiver of fear of snakes (and forked tongued people?) down my spine today!
