Shadows Bleed Poem by Thomas Plotz

Shadows Bleed

Shadows bleed, maple scented
Blended, battle brown, of darken shade
Of all the relationships,
I have ended,
Resented for running back to war

The Others I gave my rings to
The Ones I called my own

Sometimes just engagements
Sometimes the wedding band
Sometimes in this place
Sometimes in a foreign land

I changed units, team names and
Three letter acronyms, aims of
Claims, in law and justice
Carnage of loss and loves, obtained

Now-

Achievements of acquired actions, duties done
All I'm left with are rusty medals,
Of silver, bronze, ribbons shown, and
Memories of the ones I owe, and left behind

I pray about actions completed
I pray for fallen brothers and others too,
I pray for loves, I left
I pray for you

Yes

Shadows bleed, maple scented
Blended, battle brown, of darken shade
