She Can'T Say Why Poem by moon batchelder

She Can'T Say Why

Rating: 4.5

she cant' say why she wont remove
the veils from her face,
the manacles around her wrists,
the ribbons and the lace,

the blindfolds from her blinded eyes,
the corset from her hips,
the gag that's bound around her mouth,
the stain upon her lips,

the ring around her finger, like
the brand upon a slave,
the limits set for life and dreams
from birth unto the grave,

the apron from around her waist,
the onus of her curse.
she wont because
it all might be replaced by
something worse.

but she could never tell you this,
her bondage is so rare,
she's never bothered to resist
nor sees it's even there.

There is a strong personal feel to the narrative. I like this very much and enjoy the rhyme that gives the poem a follow-on-through feel.
