She Could Find Another Place Poem by Manonton Dalan

She Could Find Another Place

into river buried her head
legs sticking out; half hid
i reach to catch her; afraid
trying to get away, i got peed
those glassy eyes, slimy feet
throbbing throat, on my palm rest

i poke her back, feel ridges
stealthy color she has laid
no wonder they survive eons
she's so cute and amphib
i let her go, croak another day
she's cold, hungry and lonely
