Shona Sadza Stanza Poem by Deluke Muwanigwa

Shona Sadza Stanza

Rating: 5.0

Shona Sadza Stanza

I am truly thankful for flora and fauna
Flora speaks to me in Shona
The tongue of my forebearers
Whose palettes imbibed opaque beers
Brewed from choice seeds and yeast
Sadza providing a feast.
Colonist English cucumber
Speaking deliciously in a starter

Fauna depended on species
Animated speeches
Barking dogs
Oinking hogs
Feline purrs
Birds of prey
Cows mooing
Doves cooing

To my utter surprise
Humans abandoned me
To the extent i sought communion hugging trees
Whispering to dogs and cats feeling free
My blood brother forsaking our brotherhood
Influenced by inlaws up to no good.
Friends boycotting
Leaving me coughing and frothing

There was no one
I did what had to be done
Embracing flora and fauna
Speaking to me in floral Shona
Flora giving me sadza
Energy to write a stanza
English cucucucucumber
Speaking with a stutter.

This poem was touching and childlike in its innocence I loved it.

Hi Deluke, Barking dogs seldom bite". So let us ignore them and the cacophony created by them.
