Silence - Poem by Gordon Jerome

With the sounds of reason still echoing from the walls
There is a deafening silence engulfing our thoughts
Devouring our very wisdom as we sit quietly by
Silently destroying our final bits of knowledge
Knowing our grasp on sanity is but a whimper
A mere whisper against the vacuum of silence
Falling uselessly upon long ago deafened ears
And yet still I cry out seeking your acceptance.
“closing thought”
Forgiveness, Understanding, Acceptance
These are our best weapons against the silence
