Silence Poem by Amar Agarwala

Silence

The snow falls silently upon the bare branches
Of cherries, frosty pines and cedars tall,
Like some crimson dusk harking to falling darkness
And to the echoes of its silent call.

Then gathers in soft and gentle heaps about it
Promising not to leave its forlorn side,
Sheathing its stark nudity with its powdery veil
A blithe endeavour to preserve its pride.

They speak to each other in some voiceless parlance
Falling snow, icy winds and placid boughs,
Purple skies watching with baited speechless wonder
A blissful romance that silently plows.

Such be nature's rhapsody of ecstatic love
Silently culminating from heaven's above.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
DEEP SILENCE

Nature tell us in silence what mere words could never do. There is something about the play of winds, the drifting snow, the cotton clouds, the sky and the silence of the trees that speak to us in wordless wonder. The interplay of light and night that resonates with a speechless urging that is so hard to define... perhaps they endeavour to teach us the art of harking to silence. So that someday we may decipher our true selves that resides somewhere in the realms of a deeper silence within our hearts.

Lovely poem. A mysterious silence with snow around invokes emotions that are beyond this world. The magic of Nature at its best. Your poem captures it so perfectly. Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed two of your poems very much today.
