Simple Pleasure - Poem by Lynzi Berner

I have
forgotten
the simple pleasures
of being a
child

The complete
wonder
at all
things new
trusting
your heart
and jumping
with
the knowledge
that everything
would be okay
melting
with others
over creating
the perfect
sandcastle
no stations
no expectations
just
the raw freedom
of the innocent

I went
to the park today
and
I swang
on the
swingset
and
for the first time
in a long time
I felt
like I could
fly
