Sing My Song Poem by Cigeng Zhang

Sing My Song

Sing my song
Summer gives me a garment?
Don't moan
Just to sing
Winter’s frostbite
Will be gone
Sing the song!
My heart
Longing for what?
There is no sigh
Like the little owls
in my back garden
There is no complaint
Like the silent eyes
Bearing my heavy night
There is no pain
Only the song
Like a lark - landing
on my wounds

This poem is really the song that it promotes. It is the song which comes mysteriously from both nature and the human heart. But you are being very quiet and humble in this poem, perhaps so its readers won't despair and say, Oh, it's too hard to sing! and then give up. There is a theme that goes through the poem that gives a true message about happiness. It goes: THERE IS NO SIGH... NO COMPLAINT.... NO PAIN... ONLY THE SONG. That is a remarkable poem because it affirms that difficult truth that we humans can overcome our problems with our creativity. As long as the singers sing the sadness of life can be replaced by joy and sweetness.

A lovely and visual piece; I like especially the last line like a lark landing on my wounds, a beautiful metaphor!

a forlorn touching poem... the allusion to nature and the symbols of the night give it a powerful aura. charming and poetic with lonesomeness writ large. The apparent converse with the silent whispering wind is dramatic and an echo on the concourse. liked
