Sitting Bull Poem by Ima Ryma

Sitting Bull

Sitting Bull to the white world came
In Buffalo Bill's Wild West show.
The cause of Custer's Last Stand fame
Believed he could help peace to grow,
And through it kept his dignity,
Appearing the true wise Sioux chief,
Who tried to keep his people free,
But knew the new crushed old belief.
He did learn from Buffalo Bill
That the whole world would pay a lot
For dreams of wild west to fulfill.
A lot of cash Sitting Bull got.

What did Sitting Bull do with pay?
To white poor he give it away.
