Kayode Are

Sky-Gazer - Poem by Kayode Are

Why stare at the sky
in expectation
Why bray and fray
in frustration
When if you strive
your salvation
May rise in stride
from earth's direction

Why mope at the clouds
in fascination
Why do you shroud
your destination
Those who go astray
in desperation
Soon find the way
to damnation

Why live your life
in trepidation
Why stay alive
in degradation
When if we strive
with determination
Our dreams will thrive
in pleasant fruition

Why stare at the sky
in altercation
Why cringe and cry
in frustration
When if you strive
with calculation
Yours the laughter
of jubilation
