Sleep Beckons Poem by Matthew Holloway

Sleep Beckons

Rating: 5.0

Sleep beckons to me
eyes fight to remain open
yet a poem remains unwritten
to love or nature or each entwined
to dreams of romance of a confession
the openness of the soul reveals
a reasoning behind the insomnia
which torments with a cruelty
the tired mass each night
sleep beckons, thoughts seduce
a name brings a smile
and a hope to dream once more
though it seems to be, always
never a reality to become
sleep beckons to me
and I wish to sleep
