Sleep Envy Poem by Matthew Holloway

Sleep Envy

Rating: 5.0

Envious of those who sleep
those who find a nightly peace
those whose thoughts subside
those with a restful mind
for I and others I assume
have thoughts linger within
the later hours of each night
and early hours of each morn
thoughts which deny such sleep
the throws of a restless soul
twist and turn, toss and throw
and still, still deny that sought
over a number hours peace
the escape of such a world
envious of all who find such sleep
jealous of those who freely dream
I wish I could be amongst them
that I may lay down, eyes closed
to sleep and to dream
