So Long Poem by Driss Ezzireg

So Long

Rating: 2.5

So long happy days of idleness;
Your time has come to an end.
No more numb lips to kiss
Nor furtive game to bend.
No more homes to furnish
With earthen colors at hand.
Time for unending, enslaving, humiliating,
Aimless, tasteless, senseless labor has come.
Time for dehumanized, demoralized, debased
Degenerate, corrupt, indecent man has come.
Time of cowardice, treason, malice, crime
Bigotry, idolatry, pedantry, ruthlessness has come.
So long peace, happiness, love, brotherhood;
Few care for you now and fewer would!
