Social Distanced Shopping Poem by Phil Soar

Social Distanced Shopping

Rating: 5.0

I tried to keep my distance at a superstore today
But every aisle had morons in, who just got in the way
I couldn't reach the baked beans shelf, or get a loaf of bread
So I waited by the veg and fruit, to try and help myself
No sooner had I picked some fruit from a box just by the edge
Someone barged into me and almost bruised my meat and veg
The flow of people moving round, was almost three feet deep
With mothers and kids, and babys who, would rather be asleep
And by the 'special offers', it was like a free for all
I tried to buy a a few myself, but couldn't see F*** all
An hour into my shop, I thought I'd better go back home
But couldn't get passed the morons, who were talking on their phones
So I sat down in a crumpled heap, next to the milk and butter
And waited until closing time, when they tried to close the shutter
The staff were at the end of shift, they didn't see me there
Locked the shop, and then F***ed off, and I didn't really care

It's true that many people seem to have no regard for social distancing and constantly invade your personal space. That's why the virus is increasing its hold on us.
