Something Else In Mind. Poem by kay connolly

Something Else In Mind.

Believing that we met because it was fate,
No thoughts considered that your love could turn to hate.
So I accepted no beliefs that my heart found displeasing,
and I neglected the fact that we met for another reason.

Questioning my faith to get an understanding.
How could I suffer as I did, and have no happy ending?
But God makes no mistakes, a fact I have come to find,
so when he put us together, he had something else in mind.

So when you tried to lock me down and throw away the key,
you evoked my true strengths, and really set me free.

No more suffering to endure, my heart no longer needs defending,
accepting the grim truth brought forth my happy ending.
My heart acting as a brain, deciding we were never meant to be,
discovering the true reason of our fate, you provoked my epiphany.
