প্রতি ক্ষণে ক্ষণে গণিছে প্রহর;
ঝরে যায় যদি হঠাৎ ঝড়ে;
Song of Life
This mortal life of mine is no theatrical play,
Nor is it merely glittering with golden display—
For within, a burning anguish stays.
In both my eyes, the lines of dreams remain,
My heart is filled with hopes that may be in vain;
A love sincere is mingled in my heart—
The love this worldly life may impart.
I know all dreams shall remain incomplete,
While I shall dwell beyond, where endings meet.
So I wear a counterfeit smile and move along,
As it grows dim again and again.
Before me lies the journey into eternity,
With every passing moment counting toward destiny;
Who knows when someone knocks upon my door,
And ends this play of life forevermore?
At my door, my neighbors and my kin
Have woven bonds that hold me deep within;
Their love, entwined with tenderness and care,
Becomes an obstacle to the journey I must bear.
Those who have walked beside me through this life,
With whom I shared its dealings, joy and strife—
If, through my error, any discord came,
Forgive me, O vast universe, without blame.
Remember this unfortunate soul,
If suddenly a storm should make him fall;
Under the Infinite Law, I am so small—
A tiny speck beneath the boundless sky.
If this small life of mine can serve mankind,
If it can leave some goodness here behind,
And if the Creator is pleased with what I've done,
Then my life, at last, will have its meaning won.
