Soul Mates Poem by Jo Elliott

Soul Mates

Some people come and go in your life,
some are here to stay.
One may be your husband or wife,
while the others go on their way.

One will be your mother,
your father
or your siblings too.
Realise each person you meet
makes up a part of you.

Rejoice in the times you share with them;
the laughter and even the pain.
Each moment makes up a memory
and creates a link to your chain.

Let not the hard times fill you,
learn to love them all instead.
Open your heart with the good times
so each path of life you tread.

Be happy for the time you've known them,
a lifetime or a moment or two;
because it matters not how long it is
but how they've influenced you.

Bless the time you created with them.
Keep them forever in your heart
then deep inside you'll always know
you'll never be apart.

This you'll see as time goes by
and you walk along your way,
it will help you understand
that none of us are here to stay.

Our time is only borrowed
to do with it as we choose.
So,
live each moment of your life
there's nothing for you to lose.

Do the things that you enjoy,
worry not what others say.
Your life is a gift bestowed to you
so live it your own way!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Kin. I wrote this poem about everyone being in your life for some reason and also for the time they are. It was my way of acknowledging that nothing is forever and that when it's done it's done.
