Space - Poem by Gordon Jerome

Look at how the night sky smiles
With glistening stars amidst countless miles
Its vastness envelops your every thought
And holds the answers that many have sought
Such visions softly hidden by a veil of light
Only allowed center stage in the darkness of night
We stand looking skyward in awe of this show
Imagining distant worlds that we might never know
Discussing wonders we may find out in space
Debating the possibility of another far distant race
but grand as it is there’s one thing above all
The fact that in this space we are infinitely small
It’s a humbling sense to know where you stand
A plain simple grain in this universe of sand.
“closing thought”
If you think of the universe as a plain grain of sand
Just imagine the possibilities you could hold in your hand
