Speak Up Poem by Cena Rose

Speak Up

Why are you here?
Have you come to kill me?
Slowly, surely
Rip me to pieces?

As you did within the creases
Of that unwanted bed
With me head shakin’

No

But how could I know
You’d continue a one-man show
Of defacing me
Debasing me
Erasing My Virginity

Did you hate me?
I ask myself lately
Because now I feel dirty

Because protection
Wasn’t the direction
You were heading to

No
More like the correction
Of my so-called over-protection
You were heading to

Did you hear my scream?
As you leaned
Over my broken body?

Hidden
Now I lay
After you took the forbidden
Fruit that day

But now you say “Sorry? ”

No- I’m sorry
That I trusted you

I guess I got what was due
But what’s true
Is that your lying
And trying to
Be that tyrant
But no

No
I won’t be silent
Of violent deeds done
Pushing my sun-rays

Farther away to places
With too many faces
Mad or sad
Thinking I’m the one
Who’s bad?

No
I’m sorry
That I had to shed
Your dead tears for you
Trying to make anew
What you left

Lifeless
Used
Beaten
Confused

For I am gone
And no longer
Me
But a shadow
To watch and see

You prowl my halls

But you know
Even though I had
My fall
And I will never forget
You

I can now rise
And try anew

For I am done
Being messed up
I am done
And I will now Speak Up
