St Kabeer's Couplets 8: Awake If Ye Can Poem by Aniruddha Pathak

St Kabeer's Couplets 8: Awake If Ye Can

As oil dwells deep seed prone,
As is fire in a flint-stone,
God dwells in every man,
O awake if ye can.

Hereunder is given the original doha, a couplet by Kabeer, which when rendered in English takes all of four lines, a quatrain or more:

Jaise til mein tel hai, jyon chakmak mein aag
Tera sayeen tujh mein hai, tu jaag sake to jaag

Think twice before doing anything that you should not. Never so feel that no one knows. God dwells closer in you than you think, ponder on this and be aware. How close does God dwell in every person? Kabeer gives two beautiful examples.

Kabeer is the reason why I started writing poetry! Kabeer, Tagore, Rumi, Isa and Basho. Thank you for posting

Ability to make fabulous points in a few words, masters of brevity. But Kabeer leads in making the poetry so lyrical as well, perfectly singable, and so long lasting in people's memory. Your point is valid.
