Stand By Your Lesbian Poem by Ramona Thompson

Stand By Your Lesbian

Rating: 0.5

Rewrite of the Tammy Wynette Classic, Stand By Your Man

Sometimes it's hard to be in love
In love with another woman
You'll be givin' so many bad times
Just because by her side you love to share
All your good times
You'll try so hard to correct what they misunderstand
But if you truly love her, you won't listen to any of them
Even through they're try anything they can to come in between
And if you love her, oh when the going gets rough
And the waters fill with their homophobic prejudice
Stay strong for her
Beside her
'Cause deep down you know
There's nothing wrong
Nothing wrong at all with being a lesbian

Stand by your lesbian
Give her some kind of lovin' hope to cling to
And someone generously open to come home to
When family and friends turn
So cold
So cruel
Stand by your lesbian and show her that
Even if the world can't or won't
You will still
You will still support her
Love her to the very end
Stand by your lesbian
Stand by your lesbian
And show her that even if the world can't or won't
You will still support
You will still love her
Love her to the very end
Oh, baby girl, no matter what else in your life you do
Don't ever miss a chance to
Stand by your lesbian
