Stand In Line Poem by Jamarra Butterfield

Stand In Line

Always there when you need me
Rain or shine you'll see me
But when I need your assistance
I gotta, stand-in-line
Bail you out when you call me
Clear your name where you're accused falsely
But when I'm going through hell
I gotta, stand-in-line
I gave you money to help pay your rent
Was the leaning shoulder when your tears wanted to vent
But I just lost my world and to get to you
I gotta, stand-in-line?
Helped you get a job because I knew someone inside
Wished you luck on your interview stood by your side
You bought your new car didn't offer me a ride
I gotta, stand-in-line
It seems all I ever do is stand in lines to get to you
But when you need me there are no lines to wait to
My phone is never busy
My car is never out of gas
My problems are never more important than yours
But me, I gotta STAND IN LINE
How about you stand in line
Better yet don't even bother at all
One day you're gonna dial my number and I'm gonna miss your call
You're gonna go to my page and notice that I've blocked my wall
You'll pull up at my house and my car won't be home
You'll wait on me just sitting in my room
I won't ever come, I won't even care
You'll sit on my bed and shed a tear
Because now that the line is empty
In exchange this friendship will be
And when you realize how much you really need me
And wanna apologize for all those times
You'll have to STAND-IN-LINE!
