Stick Poem by Brian Purdy

Stick

Rating: 5.0

Six months
of heavy eating
& I haven’t gained a kilo
I lie to my wife about it
in case she is
discouraged. Nothing left now,
I’m guessing but
to watch my body
dry up
like a stick
flammable as tinder
bad-tempered as a mattress
no-one lies on.

Okay, now we're in my kitchen! Sad but funny. Poignant....no one lies on... is a great line. This one is my favorite so far. S.
