Such Is The Progress Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Such Is The Progress

Racism is kept,
To be the focus and topic.
As our youth are dieing.
From overdosing on opioids.
While all quality of life,
Has been taxed too high.
For an infrastructure kept identified,
As among the best...
Remembered to reminisce.
From days when the 1950s.
Introduced highways and rumored diversity.
Oh...
Such is the progress to have been made.

Racism is kept,
To be the focus and topic.
While climate change,
Remains a fact.
As the health industry,
Replaces manufacturing.
While producing new diseases.
To ensure people are kept,
Mentally and physically sick.
Oh...
Such is the progress to have been made.

Crime and corruption.
Seems on a daily basis,
Taught to teach as if romanced.
With decadence promoted to enhance.
And yesterday's values to have intact.
Now have become disrespected.
Laughed at and attacked.
By hypocrites claiming to want them back.
Disguised by those charading,
Imitations of lofty self righteousness.
Oh...
Such is the progress to have been made.
And greatness...?
Unquestionably deceived to keep believed!
